Rock City Gardens

Rock City will amaze you, it's in our nature. Only six miles from downtown Chattanooga, Rock City is 1,700 feet above sea level, with a 100-foot waterfall that cascades down the mountain, and the famous Swing-A-Long Bridge that spans nearly 200 feet. 

This self-guided tour along the brow of Lookout Mountain gives visitors a birds eye view from high atop Lookout Mountain. Enjoy the quiet woodland paths and gardens while discovering ancient rock formations.  Explore the 400 species of plants, flowers and shrubs.  

Each step is a discovery! Stand mightily upon world-famous Lover's Leap and wrap yourself in the magnificent view.  Wind your way through massive rock boulders and caverns that bring you to Fairyland Caverns and Mother Goose village. 

Magical adventures await you! Some of Rock City's other features include the climbing wall at Lover's Leap where you can "See Seven States," the birds of prey shows, Big Rock Grill and the Fairyland Cavern.

Incline Railway

The thrill of riding "America's Most Amazing Mile" has delighted guests for over a century.  The Incline Railway up historic Lookout Mountain is the world's steepest passenger railway.

The Incline is a National Historic site and Mechanical Engineering Landmark.  Built by John Crass and the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway Company this technical marvel boasts an incline of 72.7% at one point. Visit the machine room where the giant gears are put into motion.

Battles for Chattanooga

Located on top of Lookout Mountain across from Point Park Battlefield.  The Battles for Chattanooga is a 3-dimensional presentation of Chattanooga's Civil War history featuring theatre-seating and audio tape presentation. 

Hear the sounds of battle as you learn about Lookout Mountain's "Battle Above the Clouds" and Sherman's assault on Missionary Ridge before his famous "March to the Sea." On display are weapons, guns, equipment, and other Civil War artifacts.

Lookout Mountain Flight Park

Try Hang Gliding once, for memories that last a lifetime! Soar like an eagle in the purest form of flight! No experience necessary. Fly with a certified instructor pilot by your side for a bird's eye view of beautiful Lookout Mountain.

All tandem flights are towed to altitude by a special ultra-light aircraft.  In-flight photos available.  Fly to 2,000 feet for 12 to 20 minutes of flying time.  Health, age, and weight restrictions apply*
**If you have history of heart complications, severe breathing problems, or pregnancy you will not be able to hang-glide.  A weight restriction of 250 pounds also applies.

Chattanooga Nature Center

Come nose-to-nose with red wolves, the most endangered mammal in the United States. Get eye-to-eye with a bald eagle, hawks, vultures, and a variety of owls. Explore the Discovery Forest Treehouse located off the Blue Heron Boardwalk in the heart of the wetlands along Lookout Creek.  Relax and enjoy wildlife- friendly gardens and spectacular views of the bluffs of historic Lookout Mountain.  Walk, drive or bike along miles of trails at adjoining Reflection Riding Arboretum & Botanical Garden.

While visiting, become a Nature Center member and camp in the canopy of the trees in Paddler's Perch - an elevated cabin with a wrap around deck along Lookout Creek. International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum

Come walk among early towing and recovery history in the International Towing & Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum.  Enjoy restored antique wreckers and equipment, industry related displays of collectible toys, tools, unique equipment, and pictorial histories of manufactures who pioneered this worldwide industry.

Automotive and history buffs alike will enjoy a tour of the nostalgic museum, located in historic downtown.  The ever changing collection of town trucks dates from the earliest days of the automobile. The museum has a variety of antique toys and memorabilia to entertain all members of your family.
